Canada - DuPont Pioneer announces new game-changing Pioneer Protector brand canola hybrids

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
July 22, 2015

New Pioneer® brand canola hybrids with the Pioneer Protector® PLUS technology and Pioneer Protector® HarvestMax technology offer a better way to protect your canola harvest

DuPont Pioneer today announced the launch of new canola hybrids under the Pioneer Protector® brand for growers in Western Canada.  The new canola hybrids will help improve yield and protect canola crop against sclerotinia, clubroot and pod shatter.

"Under the Pioneer Protector® brand, we will offer canola hybrids with built-in protection for the 2016 growing season, with proven higher yields," says Greg Stokke, DuPont Pioneer business director, Western Canada. "Pioneer® brand canola hybrids with the Pioneer Protector® HarvestMax technology gives growers the flexibility they need at harvest, so growers can delay swathing or reduce risks if straight-combining the crop as  agronomic situation dictates."

New canola hybrids with the Pioneer Protector® PLUS technology offers resistance to both sclerotinia and clubroot, all in one convenient, high-yielding package. Pioneer is the first and only company in Western Canada to make this dual resistance available in canola.

New canola hybrid with the Pioneer Protector HarvestMax technology is the first-ever Genuity® Roundup Ready® technology canola hybrid with improved reduction of pod shatter. Pioneer Protector HarvestMax technology provides a wider window at harvest so growers have the flexibility to delay swathing or reduce risks if straight-cutting so more pods can fill. It all adds up to more seed in the bin.

Since launching the Pioneer Protector brand in 2009, Pioneer has continued to introduce high-yielding canola hybrids with built-in sclerotinia resistance for Western Canadian growers. In 2015, Pioneer launched Pioneer® canola hybrid 45S56 with the Pioneer Protector sclerotinia resistance trait, with strong standability for ease of harvest.

With the Pioneer Protector clubroot resistance trait, Pioneer continues to be the leader at providing genetics with clubroot resistance, high yield potential and solid agronomics.  Pioneer Protector clubroot resistance trait provides effective resistance against the most prevalent race of clubroot (race 3) as well as races 2, 5, 6 and 8. Pioneer® hybrid 45H33with the Pioneer Protector clubroot resistance trait showed extraordinary performance in 2014 with high yields and improved standability. It is ideal for growers looking for a clubroot resistance product with a complete agronomic package.
