A demonstration of strength in Nunhems - Bayer CropScience Vegetable Seeds hosts its annual watermelon and melon field days in Acampo, California

Acampo, California, USA
September 1, 2015

Several weeks in the first part of August in Northern California has been unofficially named “Seed week” for those in the watermelon and melon industry. This week all industry partners come to the fields to have a look and a taste of watermelon and melon material. Bayer CropScience Vegetable Seeds hosted their annual watermelon and melon field days in conjunction with this tradition.
Customers from up and down the chain participated in personalized field visits, gained insights to the future of breeding programs, discussions of growing practices and market trends. The success of this event is heavily rooted in the specialization of the crop team and their ability to provide a customer centric experience to partners and the breeding team’s ability to create material that fulfills the needs of the market demand. This power house combination of team specialization and strong breeding program was noted by customers as farther advanced than other competitive seed companies.

“The whole event has provided an excellent customer centric experience that matches perfectly needs of the full chain. Our program has been focused on the flavor and eating experience of our products as main driver for innovation!” Said Rafa Mora, Crop Sales Manager Watermelon Melon, regarding the event.
