At its research facility in Stein, Switzerland, Syngenta will today set out the details of its pipeline of unparalleled innovation across chemistry, seeds and traits. The pipeline contains a wealth of technologies across all product lines which will further accelerate value creation and extend the company’s industry-leading position.
In crop protection, the company will showcase its technology pipeline, focusing on the nine new active ingredients with combined peak sales potential of over $3.6 billion. These include the breakthrough, broad spectrum fungicide ADEPIDYN™ (pydiflumetofen) and ORONDIS™ for vegetables and specialty crops, which will reinforce Syngenta’s global leadership in fungicides. The pipeline also includes blockbuster products in insecticides and herbicides together with breakthrough technology in seedcare.
In seeds and traits, corn trait revenue is set to more than double by 2020. Building on the success of HYVIDO™ barley, we have recently achieved technical proof of concept in hybrid wheat. Commercialization is expected to start by the end of the decade, with peak sales potential of more than $3 billion. Our trait pipeline is well positioned to lead the next wave of GM innovation, with breakthrough projects to address soybean rust and sucking pests in addition to next generation technologies in herbicide tolerance and corn rootworm.
The company will also highlight its leadership in R&D productivity and return on investment. The rate of innovation is accelerating as shown by the number of launches and sales per launch. Productivity will further improve as the investment in global platforms such as biological assessment and regulatory drive additional efficiencies.

In ihrem Forschungszentrum in Stein, Schweiz, stellt Syngenta heute ihre Pipeline einzigartiger Innovationen in den Bereichen Pflanzenschutz, Saatgut und Traits (Pflanzeneigenschaften) vor. Die Pipeline umfasst eine Fülle von Technologien für alle Produktelinien. Diese werden die Wertschöpfung weiter beschleunigen und zum Ausbau der branchenführenden Position des Unternehmens beitragen.
Im Bereich Pflanzenschutz wird das Unternehmen seine Technologie-Pipeline vorstellen und den Fokus insbesondere auf neun neue Wirkstoffe mit einem kombinierten Spitzenumsatzpotenzial von über USD 3,6 Milliarden legen. Zu den Neuheiten zählen unter anderem das neuartige Breitband-Fungizid ADEPIDYN™ (Pydiflumetofen) und das Fungizid ORONDIS™ zur Anwendung bei Gemüse und Spezialkulturen, welche die weltweit führende Position von Syngenta am Markt für Fungizide untermauern werden. Die Pipeline von Syngenta umfasst ausserdem Blockbuster-Produkte bei Insektiziden und Herbiziden, aber auch neuartige Technologie für die Saatgutbehandlung.
In den Bereichen Saatgut und Traits werden sich die Einnahmen durch Mais-Traits bis 2020 voraussichtlich mehr als verdoppeln. Aufbauend auf den Erfolg der HYVIDO™-Gerste haben wir vor Kurzem den Machbarkeitsnachweis (Proof of Concept) für Hybridweizen erbracht. Die Markteinführung dürfte zum Ende des Jahrzehnts anlaufen, wobei das Spitzenumsatzpotenzial auf über USD 3 Milliarden geschätzt wird. Mit unserer Trait-Pipeline sind wir gut aufgestellt, um die nächste Welle der GM-Innovation anzuführen – sowohl mit neuartigen Projekten zur Bekämpfung von Sojarost und Saugschädlingen als auch mit Technologien der nächsten Generation zur Verbesserung der Herbizidtoleranz und zur Bekämpfung des Maiswurzelwurms.
Das Unternehmen wird auch seine Führungsposition bei der F&E-Produktivität und der Kapitalrendite hervorheben. Zurzeit beschleunigt sich die Innovationsrate erheblich, wie die Zahl der Markteinführungen und der pro Markteinführung erzielte Umsatz verdeutlichen. Auch die Produktivität wird weiter steigen, da die Investitionen in globale Plattformen wie Biological Assessment und Regulatory zu zusätzlichen Effizienzsteigerungen führen.

Ce pipeline comporte une multitude de technologies englobant toutes les gammes de produits, ce qui va permettre d’accélérer davantage la création de valeur et de renforcer la position de leadership de l’entreprise sur son marché.
Dans le domaine de la protection des cultures, l’entreprise va présenter son pipeline technologique en mettant l’accent sur les neuf nouveaux ingrédients actifs, dont le potentiel de ventes s’élève à plus de 3,6 milliards de dollars. Le tout inclut le fongicide à large spectre révolutionnaire ADEPIDYN™ (pydiflumétofène) et ORONDIS™ pour les potagères et les cultures spécialisées, qui vont venir renforcer le leadership mondial de Syngenta dans les fongicides. Ce pipeline comprend également des produits-phares dans le domaine des insecticides et herbicides, avec une technologie d’avant-garde en matière de protection des semences.
En ce qui concerne les semences et les traits, le chiffre d’affaires tiré des traits de maïs devrait plus que doubler d’ici 2020. En s’appuyant sur le succès de l’orge HYVIDO™, Syngenta a récemment validé le concept technique pour le développement d’un blé hybride. La commercialisation devrait être lancée d’ici la fin de la décennie, avec un potentiel de ventes de plus de 3 milliards de dollars. Le pipeline de traits est bien placé pour devenir le fer de lance de la prochaine vague d’innovations dans les OGM, grâce à des projets ambitieux visant à lutter contre la rouille du soja et les insectes suceurs, ainsi qu’à des technologies de nouvelle génération dédiées à la tolérance aux herbicides et au contrôle de la chrysomèle des racines du maïs.
L’entreprise va également mettre en valeur sa position de leader en matière de productivité de la R&D et de retour sur investissement. Le rythme des innovations s’accélère, comme l’illustre le nombre des lancements et des ventes par lancement. La productivité va continuer à s’améliorer comme les investissements dans certaines plateformes globales, telles que les évaluations biologiques et les activités réglementaires, favoriseront les gains d’efficience.
