Bejo at Fruit Logistica with fresh onion concept

During the 2016 Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Bejo Zaden will present a number of striking concepts , including Delicioni, fresh onions with a full, powerful flavour, and wonderfully crunchy kohlrabi snack sticks. At this international trade fair for fruit and vegetables, Bejo shows that traditional vegetables are increasingly developing into a healthy, trendy food.

Delicioni
As a fresh onion, Delicioni is a highly interesting expansion to the assortment of storage onions and bunching onions considered traditional within the chain. The bulb of the fresh onion is particularly juicy and has a powerful flavour. The stems are very decorative and tasty too. Delicioni is attractively presented in a bunch of three with various colours. Thanks to this colour range, the fresh onion presents beautifully on both plates and shelves. The juicy and crunchy bite and the powerful flavour make this onion a wonderful companion for salads and grilling.

Kohrispy kohlrabi stick
Kohrispy is made of the new, tasty variety Konan. Kohrispy is convenient in use, and also very healthy, with a high level of vitamin C and antioxidants. This perfectly aligns the product to the current food trends. Within the concept theme Taste-Health-Convenience, Bejo developed new, tasty kohlrabi varieties, such as Konan and the purple Kolibri, which are very suitable for eating raw. The flesh of the kohlrabi bulb is juicy and crunchy, with a mild, melon-like fragrance and a mild, sweet flavour. As the cut kohlrabi does not discolour, it is highly suitable as a ready-made product, such as the Kohrispy snack stick presented by Bejo during the Fruit Logistica.

Inspiration
Bejo sees the trade fair as a platform for networking within the chain, aiming to inspire them with new applications for crops, processing and consumption. Other concepts that Bejo is bringing to the visitors’ attention are the Coolwrap and the Cool Carrot Candy (snack carrot). Coolwrap is a specifically selected flat white cabbage. With its shape and finely structured leaves, it is highly suitable for creating wraps and sushi. Coolwrap is gluten-free and suitable for a low-carb diet. Cool Carrot Candy responds to growing demand for healthy snacks. Bejo shows carrot varieties that are discernible, among other things, in terms of taste and colour.

Future Lab
Bejo will participate in the ‘Future Lab event organised in Hall 21 (Stand D-09). Future Lab is an innovative platform for the international fresh produce business. On Wednesday 3 February at 3 p.m., Mr Pieter Gabriëls (Managing Director of Bejo Samen GmbH) will inform visitors regarding resistance breeding “Extremely tough – Resistance research 4.0‘. Ms Daniëlle Bruin (Marketing & Communication Adviser) will give an insight into ‘Cabbage – trendy and healthy’ on Thursday 4 February at 3 p.m.

Organic
Bejo leads the way in organic varieties. This is why, during  Fruit Logistica, Bejo is inviting interested visitors for an organic breakfast on Friday 5 February from 09.15 a.m. onwards. During this tasty start to the day, Bejo is set to share the latest marketing information and present new varieties in its organic assortment.
