A new prize will be awarded during the ISTA Seed Symposium by the Seed Science Advisory Group (SSAG). The nature of the prize reflects the SSAG’s objective to identify new approaches to seed quality evaluation that may be adopted by ISTA.
The SSAG prize will be awarded to an oral or poster paper submitted to the ISTA Seed Symposium that shows:
‘Achievement in taking research towards practical application in seed quality evaluation’
The research reported will show evidence that:
- the work relates to the objectives of ISTA (i.e. is fit for purpose in seed testing terms),
- the results are repeatable and reproducible,
- there is practical feasibility in a seed testing environment.
The recipient of the SSAG prize will receive a year’s subscription to Seed Science and Technology and free page charges for publication in Seed Science and Technology for one year.
Nomination and evaluation of papers to be considered for the prize will be made by the members of the SSAG. Any members of the SSAG with an interest in an oral or poster paper will not be eligible to nominate or evaluate that paper. The decision making process will be chaired by Dr Brigitte Hamman, Vice Chair of the SSAG.
The recipient of the award will be decided during the ISTA Seed Symposium and the prize will be awarded at the Congress dinner.
