USA - Pioneer brand hybrids are star performers in National Sorghum Yield Contest - Growers using Pioneer brand products win 16 national and 113 state titles

Des Moines, Iowa, USA
January 18, 2016

DuPont Pioneer congratulates the winners of 16 out of 21 national titles in the 2015 National Sorghum Producers (NSP) Yield Contest who planted Pioneer® brand sorghum hybrids to achieve top yields. Growers who used Pioneer® brand sorghum hybrids won five of seven first-place category finishes.

First-, second- and third-place national honors were awarded in each of the seven divisions which consist of a broad range of sorghum production classes, including conventional-till irrigated, conventional-till non-irrigated, mulch-till non-irrigated, no-till non-irrigated, reduced-till irrigated, double-crop non-irrigated and double-crop irrigated. Pioneer won 113 of 168 state titles in the 2015 contest, which represents 67 percent of all state awards presented.

“The 2015 NSP Yield Contest results demonstrate that our high-yielding products, coupled with implementation of best management practices, are providing top yield results for sorghum growers across the United States,” said Doug Pilkington, DuPont Pioneer senior marketing manager for the Western business unit. “We continue to expand our investment in sorghum research to improve our products and the defensive traits that protect top yields. Our team in the field is ready to help growers find the right Pioneer® brand sorghum product and management practices for their production acres in 2016.”
