DSV turf varieties delight German football club

Germany
April 2016

The German second Bundesliga team SC Paderborn 07 is building a new training centre for its professional and the youth teams. Besides the new buildings, that are still under construction, new football pitches are already installed. The conditions for the turf varieties seeded in November were difficult, nevertheless they are already very well established. The secret is in the composition of the blend.

One of the reasons – besides the excellent work of the greenkeeper Matthias Stuke – was the composition of the blend: Only leading varieties of the independent European turf grass quality tests were elected to build up a mixture at an extremely high quality standard. Even under this unfavourable winter conditions of the last three months, the plants formed a brilliant sod with roots at a depth of more than 8 cm.

Responsible for this are on the one hand three varieties of Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis): JOKER is extremely wear tolerant and persistent, LIMOUSINE excels by strong regeneration and good persistence. At least the medium to dark green LINARES is characterized by very fine leaves and high shoot density. On the other hand two varieties of Perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) made it possible. EURODIAMOND is Europe’s No. 1 for sports applications because of the best regeneration in tests. EUROCORDUS has an extremely high turf density and is very quick established paired with a medium-green colour.

Matthias Stuke is very confident today: “We chose the best turf varieties for a perfect result and it worked out really well!”
