Bayer hosts facility tour for Pickle Packer International members - Representatives from all over the world learn about current research and development

Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

A group representing Pickle Packers International (PPI) visited Bayer Research Triangle Park (RTP) headquarters in Raleigh NC on April 20 to tour the facility and learn more about the research and development currently underway. PPI is the member trade group for the pickled vegetable industry, representing a growing membership which includes pickles, peppers, sauerkraut and other additional pickled vegetables.

PPI serves the pickled vegetable industry with over 119 years of experience in sponsoring research, representing the industry before government agencies, producing educational materials and providing superior networking opportunities to its members. Today, membership represents 87 percent of the cucumber tonnage grown for pickle use in North America, valued at more than $1.5 billion.

Representatives of PPI members from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Turkey toured the Bayer facility in RTP. Rob Schrick, Strategic Business Management Lead - Horticulture Division at Bayer, greeted the group and provided an overview of Bayer’s global activities and Carl Hill, Crop Sales Manager for Pickles and Processing Tomatoes, gave a general overview of Bayer’s Vegetable Seeds business.

“We truly appreciate when partners like PPI take the time to visit us and to engage in dialogue about the future of innovation in agriculture,” said Schrick. “It always makes a difference as we continue collaborating with one another and creates better synergy between our groups.” Rob Schrick, Strategic Business Lead, Horticulture.
