From May 2nd to May 11, 2016, a 10-member delegation on vegetable breeding, cultivation and seed multiplication and processing, headed by Mr. Kim Kwang Hi of the Ministry of Agriculture of DPRK, visit Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (HAAFS).
The DPRK delegation visited the Institute of Vegetables and Medicinal Herbs, the Institute of Plant Protection and the Institute of Dryland Farming of HAAFS, and exchanged views and discussed on a wide range of topics in vegetable breeding and cultivation, vegetable diseases and insect control, bumble bee pollination on greenhouse vegetables, visited demonstration bases and labs of the institutes.
The delegation also visited Langfang Vegetable Seeds Company, Xingtai Seed Company, Shijiazhuang Double Star Seed Company, Jijianyu Manufactures, Julite Manufacture, and conducted on the spot observation in seed processing especially the seed cleaning and grading machines and seed coating machines.
Vice-president Dr. WANG Haibo welcomed the delegation on the 6th of May, and made a presentation and exchanged views with the delegation on vegetable research and cooperation.
The vegetable research progress and demonstration programs of HAAFS have left the delegation a good impression. Both sides expressed willingness to develop cooperation in areas of winter vegetable green-house production, joint seed testing, vegetable disease and pest control, etc.
