Dr.
Walter Douglas Gubler
Dr. Gubler is a Professor in the
Department of Plant Pathology and a Cooperative
Extension Specialist at UC Davis.
Dr. Gubler’s research interests include biology,
epidemiology and control of foliar pathogens of fruit
crops with an emphasis on grapevine and strawberry
diseases. He has been involved in many collaborative
projects, which recently have included:

Black
foot disease of grapevines with the support of the
California Grape Rootstock Improvement Commission
and ANR
-
Detection of resistance in population of pear scab
and fireblight with the Pear Pest Management
Research Fund
-
Control of black measles (esca) with the support of
the California Table Grape Commission
Other
ongoing work in the Gubler lab involves canker diseases
of grapevine, eutypa dieback in grapevine and fruit
crops, and the biology and epidemiology of grapevine
powdery mildew.
