The Seed Biotechnology
Center at the University of California Davis
recognizes University
Research Partner
Dr.
Neelima R. Sinha
Dr. Neelima Sinha is a Professor in the
Section of Plant Biology in the College of Biological
Sciences at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Sinha’s laboratory focuses on studying the genetic
and molecular mechanisms of leaf development, using
model organisms such as tomato and maize. The role of
transcription factors like LEC1 and STM1 in regulating
somatic embryogenesis in Kalanchoe species is another
area of study. Several collaborative projects Dr. Sinha
has recently been involved in include:
-
Post-transcriptional genetics of gene silencing in
corn with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation
-
Regulation of compound leaf development in tomato,
supported by the National Science Foundation
-
Functional analyses of initiation and expansion of
plant organs with the University of Georgia
-
Elucidating gene networks during tomato development,
a collaborative project supported by the National
Science Foundation Plant Genome Program.
In
addition, Dr. Sinha is an associate editor for Molecular
Biology and Evolution and serves on the NIH BRTB Study
Section.
