Tomato World, the only
trade fair dedicated to the tomato industry sector, will be held in
Piacenza Trade Fair District from 25th to 27th
November.
This exhibition covers the whole tomato sector from
production and industrial processing to distribution systems.
Tomato World is therefore designed to fill a void in the
trade fair calendar. This is the first specialized exhibition for this
sector with a significant level of economic interest.
Italy is the leading European producer of tomatoes
destined to industrial processing (4,800 million kg) and the world’s
second largest producer (after California). Tomato production in the Po
Valley has been a significant part of the economy for centuries. During
the last 100 years significant developments have been seen in terms of
cultivation and technology.
The vast range of industrial processing plants in this
area, famous throughout the world, bear witness to these developments.
Piacenza (with production exceeding 1,000 million kg) is
one of the most important centres for this economic sector and is
therefore a worthy host for this exhibition.
Furthermore, it should not be forgotten that the tomato
is the undisputed king of Italian cooking and the main ingredient for
two of Italy’s most famous dishes, pasta and pizza.
The exhibition showcases a wide range of goods and
services including seeds, farming products, machinery for planting,
harvesting and logistics management, tomato processing machinery and
equipment, sales and financial services, control and analysis tools and
laboratories, consultancy services and quality certification.
The exhibition also includes a series of meetings and
seminars designed to examine the full range of problems associated with
the sector. Topics include product research, new technological
solutions, financial aspects, the effects of new market growth.
The headline of this biennial fair says: “We grow
opportunities”. Piacenza, every two years, wants to become a real point
of meeting for the whole sector of tomato industry specialists.
