Syngenta Canada launches Endigo, the next generation of insect control - Better control for healthier and higher yielding beans

Guelph, Ontario, Canada
May 17, 2012

Syngenta Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the registration of Endigo®, a pre-mix insecticide containing two modes of action for long-lasting control of soybean aphids and bean leaf beetles in soybeans and dried shelled beans.

“Syngenta continues to listen to growers and bring forward products that help to solve their crop protection challenges,” states Eric Phillips, Asset Lead, Fungicides and Insecticides for Syngenta Canada Inc. “Endigo is an excellent broad-spectrum foliar insecticide providing better insect control for healthier and more productive plants.”

Endigo delivers the proven performance of industry-leading insecticides: lambda-cyhalothrin (Group 3) and thiamethoxam (Group 4). These two modes of action provide a fast knockdown of the insects as well as residual control, and make Endigo an effective rotational partner to help manage insect resistance.

Both soybean aphids and bean leaf beetles can be devastating to bean growers. Soybean aphids pierce the plant and suck the juices and nutrients from it. This could cause the soybeans to abort flowers, become stunted, or potentially reduce the number of pods and seeds they produce. Soybean aphids may even impact yield before plant symptoms become readily apparent.

Bean leaf beetle damage can be severe early in the season causing defoliation. Additionally, if the beetles are not controlled, pod feeding can also result which leads to reduced yields and quality.

Endigo is formulated using Zeon technology, which is a proprietary formulation breakthrough from Syngenta. With Zeon, the micro–encapsulation technology delivers a slow release of the active ingredient to enhance residual insect control.

In addition, Endigo is convenient to use, flows smoothly, mixes easily and disperses completely in water.

Endigo is the latest addition to the broad portfolio of soybean products Syngenta has brought to market, including seeds, seed care and crop protection technologies.
