Australia
June 29, 2012
Are you in a high risk situation for blackleg disease in canola, and what practices can you change to reduce or prevent yield loss in canola?
Answers to these questions are contained in the new GRDC Blackleg Management Guide Fact Sheet contained in the July/August edition of the GRDC magazine Ground Cover and available at www.grdc.com.au/GRDC-FS-BlacklegManagementGuide
The fact sheet, developed by the GRDC in conjunction with Steve Marcroft of Marcroft Grains Pathology at Horsham, Victoria, outlines steps to help growers manage blackleg including:
- Determining your farm’s blackleg risk;
- Determining each paddock’s blackleg severity;
- Management practices to reduce the risk of blackleg infection;
- Blackleg resistance groups.
