  • Syngenta Bug Squad provides insight, recommendations and solutions
  • Elite team of experts offers a wealth of knowledge in corn insect control technologies, resistance management, entomology and agronomy
  • Bug Squad and Syngenta insect control portfolio can help farmers grow more corn

To help farmers and resellers better understand strategies and solutions for corn insect control, Syngenta will introduce the Bug Squad at the 2013 Farm Progress Show, which will be held Aug. 27–30 in Decatur, Ill. Bug Squad members will be on hand in the Syngenta tent to answer questions about above- and below-ground corn insect management.

In recent years, corn insect control has been compounded by challenges from unpredictable weather, increased pest pressure and suspected resistance to some control technologies. To help farmers take a more proactive, integrated and long-term approach to corn insect control, Syngenta has formed a team of experts to share knowledge on emerging management strategies and best practices.

“Corn insect control is a moving target, and sometimes the answers aren’t as simple as they seem,” said Bruce Battles, Syngenta solutions development manager and Bug Squad member. “As the leader in U.S. corn insect control, Syngenta wants to help farmers develop multi-year, whole-farm strategies for integrated pest management. The Bug Squad was assembled to offer unparalleled insight and solutions to farmers and agricultural resellers.”

This talented group of Syngenta experts comes from diverse backgrounds in education, training and professional experience. They have extensive experience in agronomy, resistance management and entomology, and offer a wealth of knowledge in insect control technologies including traits, seed treatments and insecticides. Working with the Syngenta portfolio of insect control technologies, the Bug Squad is committed to helping farmers grow more corn. Members include:
  • Bruce Battles, solutions development manager
  • Miloud Araba, Ph.D., product lead, technical seed traits
  • Caydee Savinelli, Ph.D., technical product lead, insecticides
  • Dirk Benson, Ph.D., head of trait projects

“As a member of this team, I hope to have good conversations about the insect pressures growers are facing and look forward to working together to develop sustainable insect management plans,” said Caydee Savinelli, Ph.D., Syngenta technical product lead and Bug Squad member. “Syngenta has several key tools that fit well into the overall management of insects and can help our customers maximize their productivity.”
