Get the most out of foliar fungicide applications through the latest ‘Focus on Potato’ webcast

USA
September 26, 2013

Foliar fungicides are a common tool for protecting potatoes from a number of foliar diseases. But like any tool, it’s only useful if used correctly.

Knowing the factors that contribute to the best foliar fungicide application will help to ensure the most protection, for the longest time period, and at the lowest cost.

In the latest Focus on Potato webcast, titled “Chemical Control of Foliar Plant Diseases in Potato: Application of Fungicides,” Dr. Phil Hamm, presents information that will help growers, consultants, and other practitioners get the most out of their fungicide applications.

In this talk, Dr. Hamm discusses:

  • Fungicide penetration into the canopy following various application methods
  • How much of the material applied remains at the canopy level nearly a week later
  • What are the results of repeated applications related to fungicide amount through time
  • Why timing of application is important to get the best disease control possible
  • The impact of increasing or decreasing water amounts in the application
This 49-minute presentation is open access through December 31, 2013. This and other presentations can be viewed through the Focus on Potato resource at www.plantmanagementnetwork.org/fop.
