Prev-AM from Oro Agri shortlisted as “Best New Biopesticide” in Agrow 2014 Awards

PREV-AM, a key product in the Oro Agri product portfolio, has been shortlisted as the “Best New Biopesticide” in the prestigious Agrow 2014 Awards. These awards aim to highlight creativity and innovation showcasing the best in the global crop production industry.

“We are delighted that PREV-AM, our flagship pesticide, has been recognized and shortlisted for this industry award,” says Carol Pullen, General Manager, of Oro Agri International Ltd. “PREV-AM provides insecticide, fungicide and acaricide activity on a wide range of crops. Being non-persistent in the environment, and showing low mortality on non-target organisms, it is ideally suited for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs against a range of pest problems, and due to rapid biodegradability is beneficial in sustainable farming practices. It is also ECOCERT approved for organic farming in Europe.”

“From our origins in 2001, Oro Agri has already made a significant impact into the global crop production market and now has a presence in more than 75 countries and this continues to expand,” says Pullen. “The category for which PREV-AM has been shortlisted is the best new biopesticide – a crop protection product derived from a naturally occurring organism. PREV-AM ticks all the right boxes for this category being a unique crop protection product derived from a naturally occurring renewable botanical source.”

“Bio-pesticides are currently showing very strong growth in the global pesticide market due to consumer demand for organic and sustainable food production. The global bio-pesticides and synthetic pesticides market is predicted to grow from $61.8billion in 2013 to $83.7billion by 2019. This is significant for Oro Agri which is in the bio-pesticide sector that often increases at double the rate of the traditional pesticides market. Having PREV-AM shortlisted in this category certainly reflects the mission of Oro Agri to provide growers with continual innovation, development and commercialization of a broad range of highly effective, low environmental impact biorational products that work “in the real world” to enhance yields and sustain crop health,” says Pullen.

Oro Agri first gained recognition in 2013, when it attained listing of Orange Oil in the European approved pesticide substance list.

The winners of the Agrow awards will be announced at the Agrow ceremony dinner which takes place on Wednesday 29 October 2014 at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel, The Netherlands.
