INCOTEC Australia now offering European standard seed priming

Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
January 28, 2015

INCOTEC Australia recently announced the opening of a brand new priming unit at the Seaford location in Victoria, Australia. The company is now offering high-quality priming for lettuce, celery and tomato seeds. With this new unit INCOTEC Australia has broadened its product range and improved the services available for the Australian seed market

The INCOTEC organization has been involved with seed enhancement for many years and has a wealth of experience and expertise in seed technology. INCOTEC’s quality priming techniques take control of germination by triggering the process and then halting it at precisely the right moment. This leaves seeds with maximal germination potential and ready to germinate rapidly and evenly when sown, even when conditions are challenging. The result is a uniform plant stand and more useable plants as well as an increase in production efficiency.

Here are some of the positive effects of priming:

  • Faster and uniform germination
  • Good stand establishment even under poor environmental conditions
  • Germination in a broader temperature range
  • Higher emergence percentage and improved vigour
  • Easier and more efficient production
  • Suitable for combination with other INCOTEC seed enhancements

There are several types of priming available depending on the seed type and the growing conditions. Priming can broaden the temperature range in which seeds will germinate, while other types of priming can be useful for light-sensitive cultivation or when seeds are required to germinate within a specific time frame.

John Canavan, General Manager of INCOTEC Australia commented: “Through this European standard priming, our customers will be able to offer a quality seed to increase the returns on crop yield and we are delighted to add this to the range of seed technologies and enhancement products that we can provide for the Australian seed market”.

INCOTEC’s priming can easily be combined with other INCOTEC innovations such as disinfection, encrusting & pelleting, film coating and upgrading already available from INCOTEC Australia.

INCOTEC was founded in 1968 and has been an independent company since 2002.
