Half of all customers choose E-Control for their new Väderstad Rapid seed drill

With sales in excess of 22,000, the Väderstad Rapid was updated at the end of 2014 to better address the needs of modern agriculture. The update involves a new design with a neater seed hopper making it easier to access the seed drill. Together with lubrication-free bearings, the result is a reduction in overall maintenance. Hydraulic operation makes it easier to set up the machine. At the same time the E-Control control system was launched for the Rapid.

Half of all customers choose E-Control

Väderstad’s electronic solutions have been brought under the generic name of Väderstad E-Services and comprise the new E-Control, an ISOBUS solution and the trusty ControlStation. Since the launch, half of Väderstad’s Rapid customers have opted for E-Control.

“Our customers appreciate the introduction of Wi-Fi and iPad Air, i.e. control with the aid of wireless communication. User-friendliness, cost-effectiveness and easy updating are just some of the big advantages of the iPad Air solution over traditional systems,” says Bernt Mårtensson, Concept Manager for Rapid.

In addition, the possibility of connecting the seed drill to a commercially available GPS system means farmers can use the drill with a high degree of accuracy and at lowest possible cost.

Hydraulic feed on all Rapid

As from model year 2015, all Rapid models will have hydraulic feed from the tractor.
“Hydraulic feed is an absolute must if the operator is to be able to use Väderstad E-Services, connect the drill to a GPS system and exploit the technology to the full,” explains Bernt Mårtensson.
