Thanks to the release of various successful varieties in Italy, ISI Sementi has stepped up its activities to most major vegetable markets in the world.
ISI Sementi is managed by the founder and the second generation.
The research programs include all available kinds of tomato types, as well as all onion and lettuce types, endive and squash.
A strong boost to the varietal development programs was given by the biotechnology laboratory; started in 2005 and actually the most advanced laboratory for molecular biology research in the Italian private sector. The lab is developing molecular markers for assisted selection works with the aim to obtain the most precise and quick breeding programs, as well as to support seed quality control related aspects.
The company has over 50 employees, incl. an in-house team of 9 breeders and biotechnologists, thus explaining the quick development of high quality proprietary hybrid and OP vegetable varieties, adapted to temperate and (sub) tropical areas.
In all programs the focus is both on fruit qualities attractive to consumers, such as the “Italian taste”, nutritional values and long shelf-life as well as traits important to growers, like high yield and disease resistances.
ISI Sementi is a medium sized seed company; with the important added value to create synergy between the strong focus on variety development with the sometimes specific product requirements from our customers. This to mutual benefit; selling to both professional growers for the fresh market and to tomato processing industries through its network of distributors.
Our premises are located in Fidenza and combine in one location all aspects necessary for the administration, R&D, production, storage, shipping, etc.
In December 2000 ISI Sementi has obtained from DNV Italia the quality certificate under the norms of UNI EN ISO 9002 and in December 2003 under the norms of UNI EN ISO 9001/2000.
