In 1985, ICI Americas, now called Zeneca,
purchased Garst Seed Company. Then, in 1996, Zeneca merged its worldwide seed business
with VanderHave of Holland. Thus, the firm Roswell Garst founded just 66 years before had
now become part of a global seed technology group named Advanta.
Garst is the largest member of the Advanta group of companies. With corporate and
research headquarters in Slater, Iowa, Garst, along with AgriPro Seeds and Interstate
Seeds are key components in Advanta's worldwide seed technology network that includes
research, development and breeding facilities in 13 U.S. states and in 12 countries around
the globe.
Key crops within the Advanta companies include alfalfa, canola, corn, grain
sorghum, grasses, soybeans, sugarbeets and sunflower. |
