Research Seeds, Inc. (RSI) announced today the creation of a single entity focused on alfalfa research, seed production, packaging and distribution. This organization will be called
Forage Genetics International and is created through the integration of three RSI business units, Forage Genetics, Inc. of West Salem, Wisconsin; Union Seed Company of Nampa, Idaho and Research Seeds forage division at St. Joseph, Missouri. Dr. Mark McCaslin will be the president of Forage Genetics International.
Forage Genetics International will include forage breeding stations at West Salem, WI; Nampa, ID; Ames, IA, West Lafayette, IN; Holtville, CA, Cegled, Hungary and Marcos Juarez, Argentina in addition to their Alfalfa Biotechnology Center in West Salem. Technology alliances include Monsanto, Akkadix, BioWorks, FFR, Dow Agro, Novartis and the Alfalfa Biotech Consortium. Production and packaging facilities will include Nampa, ID; St. Joseph, MO; Billing, MT and Touchet, WA. Sales offices will be based out of St. Joseph, MO and Nampa, ID.

In addition to Forage Genetics International, Research Seeds, Inc. is the parent company for Seed Research of Oregon, an acknowledged leader in the research, breeding and production of turfgrasses for golf courses and commercial markets, as well as Urbana Labs, a world leader in the development, production and marketing of microbial inoculants for forage legumes, soybeans and other legumes.
