The
U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health
Inspection Service will hold a public meeting to exchange
information on its plant protection and quarantine (PPQ)
program.
APHIS is organizing this public meeting in
order to provide a forum to present information and receive
feedback from stakeholders on PPQ's mission, activities and
future issues. Topics will include, but are not limited to:
future priorities, budget update and outlook, update on the
transition of agricultural inspectors to the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security, pest detection and emergency programs and
issues related to trade and risk assessments.
PPQ is seeking suggestions for additional
meeting topics. Please submit suggested meeting topics on or
before Oct. 6 to Paula Henstridge, special assistant to the
deputy administrator, USDA, APHIS, PPQ, Room 302-E Whitten
Building, 14th Street and Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington,

The meetings will be held on Tuesday and
Wednesday, Dec. 9 and 10 at the Melrose Hotel, 2430 Pennsylvania
Avenue, N.W, Washington, D.C.
