Kermit White joins Stauffer Seeds as a District Sales Manager in northeast Iowa
Postville, Iowa
September 13, 2005

Kermit White joined Stauffer Seeds, Inc. in August as a District Sales Manager serving a territory including Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Winnebago, Howard, Chickasaw, and Bremer Counties in northeast Iowa.

“I really like how Stauffer Seeds positions genetics to match soil types, soil fertility, weather patterns, as well as the growers’ crop rotation and tillage practices,” White commented. “This company is more personalized, looking more at what the customer wants and needs.”

Prior to joining Stauffer Seeds, White was a sales manager for a competitor. During this time, he had a weekly radio program on two stations called, “The Garst Guy from the Field.” This program will likely continue with a new title. His career also includes experience as an agronomy department manager for a local cooperative as well as sales at an independent feed and fertilizer business. He earned his Certified Crop Advisor certification four years ago.

White’s Stauffer Seeds territory closely matches his previous sales area. “I can help them. I know their farms, how they operate and their tillage practices, what they use grain for whether it’s silage or combining, if they like their grain heavy test weight, high or low moisture, or just high yields. I will match what Stauffer Seeds has to offer to their farms and their dealerships.”

Because Stauffer Seeds is a family owned, independent company, White looks forward to introducing the product line in his territory. “I enjoy helping farmers and seed dealers,” White stated. “I want to help producers reach optimum yields and profits. I do that by being hands-on, working with farmers and dealers closely to position hybrids for more successes.”

Farming conditions in northeast Iowa are unique and White appreciates the products Stauffer Seeds offers specifically for these growing conditions. “We are close to the Mississippi River. We have clay loam in the hills, yet we have some real high fertility bottom grounds. With these different soil types, hybrids respond differently here,” he stated. “Stauffer Seeds actually offers hybrids for this region, products that will work really well for farmers in this area. For Stauffer, it’s about opportunity and products to fit our geography.”

That kind of caring about the customer is what attracted White to Stauffer Seeds. “Stauffer Seeds brings that type of philosophy and attitude in how they work with people. They care and offer a personal touch,” he remarked.

White and his wife, Cathy, live in Postville. They are the parents of two children and have four grandchildren.
