LG Seeds releases three Yieldgard VecTran hybrids for 2006/07
Elmwood, Illinois
October 11, 2006

LG Seeds, Inc. announces the addition of three new hybrids with the YieldGard VT™ Triple technology.

YieldGard VT™ represents the next generation of YieldGard™ stacked traits, developed through advanced Vector-Stack Transformation, or "VecTran" technology upon which its name is based.

A gene gun has typically been used to insert individual traits into separate plants, and then the plants have been crossbred to produce a new hybrid containing the multiple traits.

VecTran utilizes a cleaner, more natural agrobacterium-mediated insertion process. Two or more genes containing the desired traits are delivered through a single insertion process into the plant chromosome, on which optimal performance of the stacked traits is achieved. The result is a stacked-trait hybrid with a highly active and more consistent promoter of the rootworm protection gene, which is more effectively distributed throughout the root system.

For growers, this will mean they get stacked-trait hybrids with improved consistency, with even better insect control and higher yield potential than current YieldGard products on the market.

General Manager, Craig Anderson says, “We’re excited to be on the forefront of companies to launch the VecTran technology. And, we have combined it with our most elite unique germplasm to offer even higher yield potential.”

For the 2006/07 growing season, LG Seeds is offering three hybrids with the YieldGard VT Triple technology.

LG2507VT3 - 101 days
An attractive hybrid with upright leaves, consistent ear size, medium plant and medium ear height. Plants have excellent stalks and roots with good late season intactness that contributes to a flexible harvest schedule.

LG2545VT3 - 107 days
Features a dark green color with a semi-erect leaf type. Ear height and emergence is improved with the exciting yield potential of the highly successful LG2540 family. Large flex ears are composed of deep kernels on a small cob with fast drydown.

LG2625VT3 - 114 days
A medium maturity hybrid with large blocky ears with lower ear placement. A hybrid with top end yield potential on productive soils and impressive season long health, LG2625VT3 is a dual purpose hybrid with excellent grain yield or silage tonnage.

Always follow grain marketing and IRM requirements. Always read and follow pesticide label directions. Roundup Ready® crops contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup® agricultural herbicides. Roundup agricultural herbicides will kill crops that are not glyphosate tolerant. YieldGard®, YieldGard VT™ and YieldGard VT Design™ are trademarks of Monsanto Technology LLC.
