Canada's
National Forum
on Seed will hold its next meeting at the Radisson Hotel
Winnipeg Downtown, in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 1,
2006.
Please note that this
National Forum on Seed meeting is being held in conjunction
with a CFIA workshop on Seed Program Modernization, to be
held one day prior on November 30, 2006, at the same
location. A separate invitation will be sent to you by CFIA
for this workshop.
The agenda for the
December 1st National Forum on Seed Meeting is organized in
two parts.
Part one will be
a morning seminar on GURTs. The purpose will be to raise
awareness and understanding of GURTs and the regulatory
environment surrounding them.
Part two The
afternoon, will be a regular NFS agenda primarily focussed
on follow-up to the July meeting.

Updates on Canada
Grains Council AP project and any international
developments;

Update on PNT issues;
discussion and decision on whether to reconvene PNT
Working Group;

Discussion of next
steps regarding GURTs, variety deregistration and use of
variety names on common seed; and,

Budget update and
proposal for longer-term funding.

Please indicate if you
plan to attend the Forum meeting on December 1st only, or if
you plan to attend both the Workshop and Forum Meeting (Nov.
30 & Dec 01). We will coordinate with CFIA on the
participant list for the joint workshop.

like to introduce you to Anne-Marie Parent our New
Secretariat Officer. Anne-Marie replaces Charlene Mader who
has left the NFS to join CFIA in their Seed Program. We
wish Charlene well in her new duties and welcome Anne-Marie
to the NFS secretariat team.
