APEX Genetics Inc., a
progressive seed firm based in Norfolk, Nebraska, formally
announces its agreement to acquire
Sucrosco Seeds, a seed
firm based in Manilla, Iowa, for undisclosed terms.
APEX Genetics is one of the more
recent seed industry players with an initial sales focus in the
Nebraska markets has now expanded further into the western Iowa
market. "APEX Genetics, Inc. has been reviewing opportunities to
partner and expand its market reach from the day we opened our
doors for business", states Kory Smith, CEO of APEX Genetics.
"We have a great deal of respect for the legacy of customer care
that the Gruhn family has become synonymous with. Their passion
for customer service is something we share. We couldn’t be more

Sucrosco Seeds has serviced the
western Iowa and adjacent markets for years. They had been
looking for an appropriate business succession strategy. Nyle
Gruhn, president of Sucrosco remarked, "We had been looking for
the right company to work through transition with. APEX Genetics
is very progressive with their product mix, not to mention
cutting-edge information technology". He added, "APEX seemed
like the best fit for us. We are pleased that our customers will

The arrangement allows for the
expansion of sales and market coverage into western Iowa,
southeastern Nebraska, and Missouri. APEX also adds a new
soybean lineup and brand, Sucrosco soybeans, which will be
processed at its Manilla soybean processing facility. The
Manilla facility will also provide a key warehousing and
distribution center.
