Hoegemeyer Hybrids has
granted a license to Steyer
Seeds, for the sale and distribution of its VIP white corn
hybrids under the Steyer brand in the Eastern United States.
Included in the agreement are Zimmerman white corn hybrids:
1713W, 1714W and 1863W, which Hoegemeyer has licensed from
Syngenta Seeds, Inc.
Steyer Seeds Vice President, Bernie Steyer states, “Having the
ability to add the Hoegemeyer products to the outstanding
line-up of Steyer white corn hybrids will offer producers a
broad choice of products with superior yield and quality for
their white corn production plans. Also, with the Zimmerman
white corn hybrids on most of the major processor lists, and
having a long-standing reputation for kernel quality among food
manufacturers, working with Hoegemeyer will immediately
strengthen our position in the white corn seed market.”
According to Bernie Steyer, the Zimmerman hybrids will be
available next year in a Steyer bag but will carry the same
hybrid numbers. As this transition is made, Steyer will be
working closely with all key white corn processors to ensure the
continuity of approval status for all of the VIP hybrids from
Hoegemeyer.
“The specialty corn breeding effort underway by Dr. Tom
Hoegemeyer is expected to produce a number of great new white
hybrids in the coming years and coupled with Steyer’s strong
distribution in the Ohio River Valley, corn growers and
processors alike can expect to see top yielding products with
great quality very soon,” said William Olson, Hoegemeyer
Specialty Corn Product Manager.
