Northstar Genetics
Ltd., a regional seed company based in Wanamingo, Minnesota,
announced today that they have purchased the soybean and alfalfa
retail sales assets and brand name of Ziller Seed Company, based
in Bird Island, Minnesota.
"Ziller Seed has been a leader in
the soybean seed industry for many years," said Dan Hogstad,
President of Northstar Genetics. "We are pleased and very
excited to continue the tradition Tony and Jeff have created.
They were one of the first soybean-only seed companies and
proved that hard work, great quality seed and outstanding
genetics have a place in our industry."
Marketing seed in southern
Minnesota, eastern South Dakota and northern Iowa, Ziller has
maintained a high level of sales and stable dealerships.
"Continuing the Ziller brand name
is a priviledge and we look forward to growing sales, adding
dealerships where necessary, and continuing the high level of
service Ziller customers have become accustomed to", said
Hogstad.
"The Ziller brand name will
continue as we move into this growing season", he continued.
"High quality soybean seed and alfalfa seed products will
continue to carry the Ziller brand name. This company has gone
from one family ownership to a few more families owning it. The
family tradition will continue."

company owned by 12 seed families, many with their own
conditioning facilities. Northstar befan in 1996 and markets
soybean seed throughout Minnesota and both Dakotas. Northstar
Genetics Manitoba, a subsidiary of Northstar Genetics Ltd.,
markets soybean seeds in Manitoba, Canada and is currently the
leading marketer of Roundup Ready® soybeans in that province. |
