After a devastating late spring
freeze in the Ohio River Valley, corn growers were pleased with
the results from their Wyffels
Hybrids replant corn. The Wyffels Hybrids Quick Response
Team partnered with Miles Farm Supply provided replant corn to
many growers who were affected by the freeze. The team consisted
of president Bill Wyffels, product development manager Brent
Tharp and region manager David Strawn, as well as Wyffels’ seed
distribution partner in the area, Miles Farm Supply.
“Not only did Wyffels respond quickly by supplying us with good
quality hybrids, but they provided frost damage research that
was relevant to our area,” said Lynn Dawson a grower in
Allensville, Ky. “After the freeze, our area suffered a severe
drought, but the corn did better than expected, and really saved
the crop for us.”
Knowing growers would struggle in locating replant seed, the
team took immediate action to assist the area growers. New seed
was trucked from the Wyffels Distribution Headquarters in
Atkinson, Ill., and replant was completed within two weeks. With
the teamwork from Wyffels and Miles Farm Supply, nearly 200
growers were provided with assistance.
“At Wyffels, it’s our mission to support and provide assistance
for our customers in any situation,” said Bill Wyffels,
president of Wyffels Hybrids. “We treat our customers as
individuals, providing them with personalized attention and
treating them as more than a number.”
