New information source for growers, just in time for spring: Proven Seed debuts updated website

Winnipeg, Manitoba
March 29,  2001

Committed to providing the most up-to-date and thorough seed information available to Western Canadian growers, Proven Seed debuted its enhanced and more user-friendly website today.

Still located at www.provenseed.com, the site provides growers with faster and easier access to up-to-date information on the best canola, forage, wheat, malting barley and Linola(TM) varieties. Along with varietal information, visitors can access the Variety Selection Program(TM) (VSP), an interactive farm planning tool that helps farmers choose varieties based on agronomics, climate
and soil type. The VSP uses field data collected through the eight years of Proven Seed's Local Performance Check Program(R), the largest seed performance trial program in Western Canada. The new site allows users to quickly navigate through a great deal of content and find the exact information that they need.

"We are convinced that growers need all of the tools, both in the field and in the office, to remain competitive," says Jennifer Bailes, Customer Contact Marketing Co-ordinator, Proven Seed. "By offering thorough variety information and decision-making tools on our easier-to-use website we are helping growers achieve better results."

In addition, growers can better understand the role of Proven Seed's industry partners, including Pioneer Hi-Bred, the largest seed breeding company in the world, and gather production tips and information from Proven Seed experts on how to grow a more marketable and profitable crop.

The site will also continue to offer local information about Proven Seed retailers, representatives and Local Performance Check sites across Western Canada. As well, visitors can get custom recommendations for forages or canola, based on their farming needs. Lastly, the site will continue to inform growers of the latest Proven Seed offers throughout the growing season, helping to maximize profitability, as well as production.

"We are excited to provide growers an industry-leading website with more of the information they have trusted Proven Seed to give them for years," says Brydon. "Growing the best crops in the world requires access to the best information. Proven Seed helps growers put the best genetics in the ground while at the same time offering the best information on how to grow a successful crop."

Headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Proven Seed's primary areas of focus are canola, forages, and wheat. A business unit of United Grain Growers, Proven Seed also offers contracting opportunities with proprietary varieties in Linola(TM) and malting barley. Proven Seed conducts Western Canada's most extensive seed testing and evaluation through its Local Performance Check(R) program. For more information, visit www.provenseed.com.
