Asgrow offers Advanced Trait System for soybeans
August 2, 1999

Asgrow is expanding its Advanced Trait System to include Roundup Ready® and STS® soybeans that offer herbicide tolerance. Introduced last year in corn, the Advanced Trait System identifies corn hybrids or soybean varieties that have herbicide tolerance and/or insect resistance contained in the seed.

"The Advanced Trait System icon lets growers know they're buying the best genetics combined with the latest technology," says Asgrow Brand Manager Trent Leopold. "It's a natural extension to offer Asgrow's Advanced Trait System to soybean growers who appreciate the disease resistance we've bred into many of our varieties and want herbicide tolerance as well."

For 2000, Asgrow's Advanced Trait System includes Roundup Ready soybeans and corn that offer unsurpassed weed control and crop safety, STS soybeans, YieldGard® Insect Protection in corn, and corn with IMI® herbicide tolerance (CLEARFIELD™ production system). It also includes multiple-trait seed products such as Roundup Ready/YieldGard corn.

Leopold says the system's approach is designed to help growers identify when superior agronomics are packaged with cutting-edge technology, including resistance to Roundup Ultra® herbicide. "The goal of the Advanced Trait System is to help corn and soybean growers identify products that can lower input costs and increase yields," says Leopold. "We hope Asgrow technology can help growers be more profitable."

The people of Asgrow turn discovery into profit. They are dedicated to increasing agricultural productivity and value through the discovery, development, production and marketing of superior agronomic traits and seed. Asgrow has been serving a world of seed customers for more than 140 years.

Regulatory approval of grain harvested from seed of Roundup Ready corn is pending in certain export markets and may not be received before the end of 1999. As a result, growers may be restricted from introducing the grain into channels of trade where the potential for export to those  markets exists. In such cases, growers must be prepared to feed the grain domestically or sell it for use in domestic feed markets only.
