1999 Field of Dreams corn maze is a home run with visitors
Slater, Iowa
January 5, 2000

Left & Center Field of Dreams officials announced that the first ever Left & Center Field of Dreams Corn Maze was a resounding success with visitors to the famous baseball field near Dyersville, Iowa. To help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of the movie, "Field of Dreams", Garst Seed Company sponsored the design and construction of a 6.4 acre maze. Designed by world-famous maze artist, Adrian Fisher, the Left & Center Field of Dreams maze was cut out of the Garst hybrid corn planted just beyond left field.

"For our first year efforts of designing, cutting and running a corn maze, we were very pleased with the number of people and groups who came out to go through and enjoy the maze and the 'magical' corn of our field," says Keith Rahe, general manager of Left & Center Field of Dreams. "We certainly feel like we hit a home run with our guests." >From the July 31 "opening day" until the maze closed on October 31, more than 8,600 people found their way through the corn maze. And, as if to once again prove the famous "if you build it, he will come" saying true, visitors
came from 33 U.S. states and 9 foreign countries for the chance to complete the challenging maze and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the tall, waving corn.

The states represented by visitors to the Left & Center Field of Dreams corn maze included; Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
