Genecorp Seeds, one of the world's
leading suppliers of lettuce seed, is proud to announce the
appointment of Jerry Vosti as the new General manager, effective
January 1, 2000. Vosti will replace Frank Casillas, who is leaving
Genecorp to own and operate Frank Jr. Farms. Casillas will remain with
Genecorp Seeds on a consulting basis during the transition.
Jerry Vosti was born and raised in the
Soledad Mission area, attended area schools and graduated from Cal
Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a B.S. degree in business. He spent 20
years in sales with Harris Moran Seed Company, and has been with Seed
Dynamics as the North American Sales Director since 1995. Vosti's key
areas of focus have been the Salinas Valley, Yuma and the Northeastern
United States.
"We are excited to have Jerry join
us at Genecorp Seeds", said Casillas. "His ties to this area
and his broad experience in the seed business make him a natural for
this position. Genecorp is poised to supply the lettuce industry with
the varieties that will exceed all industry expectations by means of
the most technologically advanced research programs, consistent
production, and outstanding customer service."
Casillas, who has been in the seed business
since 1985, and with Genecorp Seeds since 1994, has purchased Casillas
Brothers, Inc. and will be doing business as Frank Jr. Farms. Located
in Hollister, California, Frank Jr. Farms is a grower and shipper of
onions, green peppers and lettuce. The business was founded by
Casillas' grandfather in 1932.
