YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Statistical Genetics Intern, are to: 

• Develop and improve models for germplasm characterization and selection;
• Develop analytics and automated tools that are applied to plant Breeding;
• Gain exposure to related functions as Genotyping/Marker work.
• Seed Production Plant, Pathology screening, and other areas;
• Build effective networking and long-term relationships within the Bayer Vegetable R&D and Crop Science community;
• Overview the different areas of the Vegetable R&D community, in order to foster the understanding and collaboration between functions necessary to perform in advanced capacities;
• Obtain opportunity to be considered for future full-time employment based upon individual performance within the program and broader business needs.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Statistics, Quantitative Genetics, Biostatistics or related field;
• Familiarity with the following areas: experimental design, (non-) linear mixed models, multivariate statistics, Single Step G-BLUP methodology, Bayesian Analysis, Genome-Wide Association and Deep Learning;
• Demonstrated computational skills with experience with R, R shiny, Python or other programming languages.
