The vacancy for a Station Manager at Rijk Zwaan USA
The Station Manager is responsible for establishing and developing a South Florida research and development farm. Within this role, you are responsible for coordinating with various research-breeding teams to plant, grow and evaluate seed variety evaluation trials. Support various commercial activities by organizing demonstration trials on the farm. In addition, you are also responsible for the renting of equipment plus hiring support staff to perform various research farm activities. Priority crops are watermelon, melon, tomato, pepper, lettuce and brassica.
We are seeking a Station Manager with the following criteria:
- BS degree or higher in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in agriculture, seed business, vegetable production, etc., in the southern region of the USA
- Strong communication and written skills
- Strong interest in product knowledge
- Ability to develop good long term industry relationships
- Team oriented
- Highly motivated, and able to work independently
- Travel within the USA and Canada required
- Occasional travel to Europe required
- Pest control licence and safety training
