As a Quality Assurance Technician II, you will execute tests on samples of vegetable seed lots following accredited company protocols. This position is part of the Emergence Team, responsible for performing germination and physical purity testing. The team collaborates to provide accurate and reliable test results, ensuring customer satisfaction.
During your work as a Quality Assurance Technician II, you will
- Prepare, perform, and complete routine germination and purity quality control tests accurately and in a timely manner according to standardized protocols, while maintaining strong team connections and contributing to the lab’s output.
- Proactively seek out information to help solve identified problems, take ownership of tasks, and consistently follow up on improvement ideas.
- Contribute to and/or lead various improvement projects (KATA/CAPA/A3) while successfully meeting all established milestones.
- Ensure that training and proficiency records, equipment maintenance and calibration records, and other documents within the quality management system are accurate and current; participate in internal and external audits and perform annual document reviews.
- Effectively train co-workers and new employees in specialized tasks and activities to ensure adherence to accredited procedures and protocols, promoting a safe working environment for all co-workers and contractors.
- Operate all lab equipment daily to ensure correct settings, confirm equipment fitness for use, analyze data trends to proactively identify potential malfunctions, and follow up on necessary actions to prevent equipment failure.
- Coordinate with the team manager and internal stakeholders to ensure timely performance of testing activities, alignment of Emergence priorities, and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
If you...
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (Biology, Agronomy, Horticulture) plus 2 to 5 years of lab experience (Required).
- Possess Registered Seed Technologist (RST) or Certified Viability or Purity Technologist (CVT/CPT) certification (Preferred).
- Have experience in agriculture/horticulture.
- Be detail-oriented and quality-focused.
- Maintain interest while performing repetitive work.
- Complete tasks in a timely and professional manner with concrete deadlines.
- Be highly motivated and able to learn and become proficient in all germination tests within one year and purity tests within two years.
- Have the ability to effectively train new employees and co-workers in specialized tasks and activities.
