About the position
Position is responsible for the cucumber breeding program and to support the other cucurbit breeding programs at the Culiacan station.
Position Activities
- Lead the cucumber breeding program for the Mexico markets.
- Supervise all breeding tasks, including but not limited to seeding, tissue sampling, transplanting, pollinating, harvesting and seed extraction.
- Support establishment, data collection and harvest of trials
- Manage seed health testing, seed inventory update and seed shipments.
- Support and collaborate within the Lark Seeds breeding team for maximum efficiency and development of germplasm
- Support the efficient use available resources
- Maintain the breeding database
Requirements
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. with 3 years of experience in Plant Science or related field
- Experience in vegetable breeding
- Strong background in plant breeding, genetics, field plot techniques and molecular marker applications
- Willing and able to travel 5-10% of the time Preferred
- Fluent in English
- Experience with cucurbit breeding
