Plant Scientist - RedSea - US & Mexico 

Description

We’re looking for talented and experienced individuals who have a desire to change the way people think about food and make a positive impact in the world.

Job Description

Red Sea grow produce in an environmentally and economically sustainable way in water-scarce places, reducing carbon and water footprint in the food sector and we have a fantastic new opportunity for an enthusiastic Plant Scientist to join our growing team based in the United States.

The successful candidate would lead work in designing, supervising and analysing field and greenhouse trials of grafted plants performance within the USA & Mexico. Contributions to planting, phenotyping and harvesting will also likely be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate rootstocks, collect data and make recommendations to management
  • Manage trial establishment and collection of data
  • Design, plan and execute field scale testing programs.
  • Be responsible for delivering the highest quality field data by providing optimal trial management.
  • Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the testing program as well as the general operations of a multi-location testing programs.
  • Travel during the planting and harvest season is possible, wherever needed

Qualifications

What you do need to have….

  • PhD or Master's with 3+ years' experience in plant breeding, biotechnology, plant pathology, agronomy, crop science, soil science, biology or a similar field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable, but not required.
  • Strong plant physiology, crop science, plant biology, pathology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyse data.
  • Prior experience conducting research and contributing to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property and/or trade secrets.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software.
