Main Goal

We are looking for a creative, dynamic, and proactive Research Senior Manager to join the Traits and Technologies department of Limagrain Field Seeds Research, which is devoted to the development of technologies and products to meet with global agriculture challenges. As a scientific leader of the genome engineering platform, you will further expand and oversee the different activities consisting of genome editing technologies development, vectoring, plant transformation, molecular analysis, greenhouse and phenotyping to support our projects.

Each activity is managed by a team manager who is in charge of coordination, quality and execution of the associated processes. As a Research Senior Manager, you will be accountable for the platform operations and responsible for further strengthening and developing cross-platform activities and supporting the team managers in their roles. As a manager of managers, you will foster collaborators personal and skills development.

As a Research Platform Lead you have proven organization skills, you have demonstrated your ability to manage and coordinate complex activities and you value operational excellence. This position, within an interdisciplinary team, requires excellent communication skills and a strong team spirit.

Job description

Your main tasks will be:

• Devise mid to long term strategic plans to develop the genome engineering platform by integrating the required infrastructures, processes, technologies and talents
• Provide participative leadership and support the platform managers to ensure the highest level of quality and efficiency of the different activities (genome editing technologies development, vectoring, plant transformation, molecular analysis, greenhouse and phenotyping including fields evaluations)
• Further streamline the GM/GE events production pipeline and guarantee the alignment of the platform capacities of with the project needs
• Identify and consolidate a network of external scientific collaborators and technology providers.
• Sponsor and drive innovative projects.
• Coordinate and prioritize the allocation of resources between teams and projects. Propose budget and midterm plan and ensure reporting on the evolution of the portfolio.
• Develop close relationships with other platforms as well as with crop research heads and key external partners in order to steer innovation.
• Ensure that all team members follow all the company standards (health, safety, environmental, ethical compliance, government regulations, etc). Maintain high technical and scientific level of your team.
• Ensure accurate records of experiments and results in the platform LIMS – maintain the LIMS adequacy with the platform processes and deliverables.
• Ensure all deliverable are FTO for the breeders and strengthen IP protection.

Profile

• PhD in Biology or Biotechnology with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• Strong scientific background in molecular biology, cell biology, genome engineering and plant biology
• A previous successful experience in GM or GE industrial research
• Demonstrated leadership to coordinate or drive scientific projects
• Knowledge and experience in project management
• Track records of process improvement and quality management implementation
• Awareness of regulatory frameworks and constraints
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• French and English fluency or commitment to learn
• Highly motivated and strong team player with a great ability to adapt to a competitive and fast evolving context
• Demonstrated innovative, critical thinking and problem-solving oriented mindset
• Experience with management of managers
• Versatility and ability to consider all dimensions related to the position including Legal, IP, finance, IT
