Job description
NOTE: this position is approved for 1700 hours per year. 32-40 hours a week depending on the season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drive the process for data collection required for Plant Variety Protection (PVP)and patenting of plant varieties
- Align with the all the key stakeholders including R&D operations, breeding, and marketing teams on IP data collection trials
- Coordinate trial planning and data collection with breeding and marketing teams
- Generate timely, reliable and high quality product characterization data required to enable the successful application for the protection of HM.CLAUSE germplasm through the various PVP/IP protection systems
- Coordinate with the Global IP team to ensure variety protection applications are timely submitted
- Organize seed deposits for the PVP/IP protection process
- Coordinate work on applications, such as tracking, filing, deadlines and other requirements
- Maintain IP records and notifications in the database
- Drive process and technology improvements that allow for effective and efficient characterization data to be generated
- Communicate with key stakeholders, including breeders and product managers, on the status and requirements for the protection of HM. CLAUSE's IP
Profile
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in a Biology with at least 2 years of experience or Master of Science in a Biology
- Experience in field experiments, agronomy, and/or horticulture is a plus
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders (breeders, product managers, scientists, etc.)
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple IP projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and willingness to work with digital and analytical tools
- Advanced problem-solving skills with effective hands-on task management
- Familiarity with navigating and obtaining information from different types of IP databases (ePCT, USPTO, Espacenet, WIPO, etc)
