POSITION SUMMARY

This is a lab focused position on Molecular Plant Biology Research. The primary purpose is to participate in designing, planning, and executing multiple research projects in plant molecular biology. We encourage applicants who are driven to make key contributions to innovative projects as part of a creative, collaborative, supportive and diverse team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designing and performing cloning strategies for one or multiple inserts.
• Plant expression vector design, construction, and quantitative/statistical analysis of performance.
• DNA sequencing and sequence analysis.
• Optimization and improvement of protocols.
• Requires extensive use of a diversity of molecular biology techniques.
• Deliver experimental results on a project timeline.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Candidate should possess good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and working knowledge in the use of MS Office.
• The candidate should be detail oriented.
• The candidate should have the ability to work independently as well as in teams.
• The candidate should have the ability to plan, schedule and conduct scientific projects.
• The candidate should have the ability to make independent progress on projects and report results to the team.
• Speak and write English fluently. Spanish and/or French competency is a plus.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years practical lab experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to fingers; handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to balance and stoop and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
