"The Future of Lettuce" symposium to be held solely online due to Covid-19 situation - Registration is still open

Davis, California, USA
March 9, 2020

Dear Participants:

It is with great reluctance that we have decided to move the Future of Lettuce meeting solely online rather than holding it at Pismo Beach, CA as planned. The COVID-19 situation is likely to get worse rather than better over the coming weeks. We are already being encouraged to restrict domestic travel and avoid large gatherings. It is possible that there will be a UC-wide ban on all travel and large meetings in the coming week as was instituted by other universities last week. By making this decision now, participants have time to cancel their hotel reservations without penalty, which would not be the case if the ban was instituted at the end of the week. Please cancel your hotel reservations as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused but these are circumstances beyond our control. We will instead hold the meeting online using Zoom. Inevitably, the informal interactions that are important parts of in-person meetings will be missing; however, I hope that we can still have a useful exchange of ideas. The meeting will be recorded (technology cooperating) so as to allow later viewing by participants in other time zones.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We welcome ideas as to how to make this meeting as productive as possible.

Speakers: Please send us your slides by this Friday at the latest. If they are too large to send by e-mail, please provide a Dropbox location. If you want to circulate a poster, please provide it and we will work out a mechanism for displaying it.

We look forward to meeting everyone virtually next Monday.

Registration is still open at https://g2g.ucdavis.edu/

Best regards,
Richard Michelmore, Kent Bradford Julie Tillman
