SF Turbine TT hybrid canola has maintained its consistent commercial performance, finishing at the top of the 2019 SEPWA Triazine Tolerant trials.
Conducted on Scott Redman’s property at Hopetoun, south of Ravensthorpe in Western Australia, the trial was sown on 18 April 2019 at 2.5 kg/ha using a nearest-neighbour trial design. Plots were 108m x 12m (0.13ha) and were harvested on 14 November 2019.
SF Turbine TT is the first spring canola launched in Australia by Seed Force in 2015,under licence from NPZ Australia. It is the result of Perth-based breeding efforts, with nurseries in Western Australia and eastern Australia.
“SF Turbine TT is an early to mid-maturity variety, with consistent high yields across a wide range of soils and rainfall zones throughout Australia,” said Seed Force technical manager, David Leah.
“With a blackleg rating MR-MS bare and with resistance group BF it offers a good option for rotation from Group A varieties.
Five years after its initial release, SF Turbine TT maintains a strong following.
“It is capable of high-end yields in favourable seasons, yet still performs as well as many newer varieties in poorer seasons,” David explained.
“The variety is best suited to growers in the 400-600mm rainfall zone looking for a reliable high yielding canola solution.”
