Virginia, South Australia is a thriving protected cropping region and is well known for its cucumber, capsicum and tomato production. For many growers like Tach Le, it has been a family tradition for decades with siblings, and relatives working in the industry.
Tach Le has been growing for 35 years and has been a loyal Seminis customer for the last three years. He and his wife, Hoa Tran have become well-established protected capsicum growers in the region.
Tach and South Australia Regional Business Manager, Linda Ferrarese have developed a very close business relationship, and often share industry knowledge. Tach acts as a leader in the grower community and shares his production knowledge and techniques with other Seminis growers from around the country. His variety of choice is SV0522PH, a half long, green to red capsicum for the protected unheated segment. It is a fast ripening, cold to hot variety with a strong disease package.
“My entire crop this year is SV0522PH. This variety offers good yield, a consistent size and about 95% of fruit picked is high quality. Compared to the competition, SV0522PH has enabled me to have larger, less bent fruit and a high production rate. SV0522PH stands strong against the summer heat and the winter nights frost, allowing for the crop to last almost 12 months.”
