The Board of Barley Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Elysia Vassos to the role of Executive Manager, commencing 11th May 2020.

Elysia will take over the role from Mr. Ralph Nischwitz who was in the position for just over two years. We thank Ralph for his service to Barley Australia and the Barley Industry. Ralph brought to the role a wealth of malting and brewing knowledge, and will be greatly missed. We wish Ralph all the best for his future endeavours.

Ms. Elysia Vassos joins Barley Australia with an impressive background of 20 years working for the University of Adelaide. Elysia commenced her time at the University in the Barley Breeding Program where she worked for 8 years. Most recently Elysia has been working with the Genetics Analysis and Molecular Breeding Laboratory, where she has worked on delivering molecular markers to breeders and pre-breeders, specifically targeting areas of improved resistance to biotic stresses both in barley and wheat.

We welcome Elysia on board to the Barley Australia team, where one of the primary focuses of the role will be managing the Malting Barley Accreditation Program. Elysia can be contacted via the following details:
