Present your research to the community: PhenomicsWebinars relaunch in new format

February 10, 2021

Now open: abstract submission for the upcoming season of the newly revised PhenomicsWebinars series on plant phenotyping.

By popular request, the plant phenotyping initiatives EMPHASIS, IPPN and EPPN2020 are relaunching their PhenomicsWebinars series in a brand-new format:

From March 2021, presentations will be pre-recorded and made available (for a distinct period of time) in advance to a live session. The talks can be (re-)watched at any time and questions can be submitted via email, prior to a live Q&A with the speaker.

With the new webinar structure, the organizers intend to make the PhenomicsWebinars accessible to everyone, anywhere around the world, without any restrictions due to un-matching time zone or appointment conflicts. Additionally, the option to send in questions that will be discussed in the interactive Q&A session increases the potential for more meaningful, well-thought-trough and in-depth discussions with the authors.

After the well-received launch of PhenomicsWebinars in early 2020, shortly after the global COVID-19 outbreak, the organizers carried out a satisfaction survey among participants at the end of the year. The new webinar format has been designed to address the community’s preferences indicated in the survey and includes some convenience functions around the webinar series, such as:

  • A new webinar newsletter, informing participants about content, scheduling and possible short-term changes (you can subscribe here)
  • Options to make individual calendar entries for specific webinars
  • Clear roadmap listing each webinar’s details for the current season and separate submission calls (only 2-3 week application window) prior to the beginning of each webinar season

Abstracts for talks for the upcoming season (March–April) can now be submitted. Contributions from researchers, technology providers and phenotyping practitioners from industry from all phenotyping-related fields and from all career stages are welcome. This may include research highlights and use-cases from research and application, from the public or private sector related to plant phenotyping or which use plant phenotyping as an aspect of their work.

Abstracts for the first season can be submitted here by 22 February 2021.
