Australia - Cotton Research and Development Corporation welcomes new R&D Manager and CottonInfo Communications Lead

Australia
July 12, 2021

The Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) has today announced the appointment of a new Research and Development (R&D) Manager, Elsie Hudson, and a new CottonInfo Communications Lead, Brad Pfeffer.

Elsie and Brad bring extensive cotton, agronomy and communications experience to the CRDC team.

Elsie is a cotton consultant and extension officer, who has worked across cotton farms in the Narrabri, Moree, Walgett and Bourke regions. Elsie is already very familiar with CRDC’s R&D portfolio, having most recently worked as a Regional Extension Officer within the industry’s extension program, CottonInfo, supported by CRDC, Cotton Australia and Cotton Seed Distributors. In this role, Elsie was responsible for connecting cotton growers with cotton industry research and researchers, and she brings strong R&D knowledge and established relationships to the CRDC team.

Brad is an experienced agricultural communications professional, specialising in research, development and extension. Hailing from a cotton farm, Brad has worked as a journalist for Rural Press, a media advisor for a Federal Member of Parliament, as a policy officer for Cotton Australia, and a communications manager for QLD Farmers’ Federation. For the past six years, Brad has been the Executive Manager of Communications and Adoption at CRDC’s fellow research and development corporation (RDC), Sugar Research Australia. Brad brings a passion for extension and adoption communication, and a strong understanding of the RDC system, to the CottonInfo team.

Brad is based in Brisbane and will commence with CRDC this month, while Elsie will commence from her Goondiwindi base in August.

CRDC congratulates Brad and Elsie on their appointments to the team.

CRDC is the Australian cotton industry’s RD&E investment body, jointly funded by Australian cotton growers and the Australian Government. CottonInfo is the Australian cotton industry’s joint extension program, connecting growers with research and helping the industry achieve best practice.
