Registration is open for Seed Health Testing Workshop to be held October 4-7, 2022 in Ames, Iowa

The National Seed Health System (NSHS) and the Online Graduate Program in Seed Technology and Business (STB) at Iowa State University are excited to announce that registration is now open for the inaugural hands-on seed health testing workshop in October.

The workshop is designed for seed laboratory technicians, particularly those who work for companies looking to be or are already NSHS-accredited. Workshops will emphasize hands-on laboratory practices, combined with lectures and classroom discussions.

The three-and-a-half-day agenda includes:

  • NSHS method Br 1.1 – Xanthomonas campestris campestris on brassicas
    • Selective media plating with conventional PCR confirmation test
  • NSHS method Cb 3.1 – Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) on cucurbits
    • ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay)
  • NSHS method So 7.1 – Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) on tomato and pepper
    • Reverse transcription quantitative PCR

Register today for this inaugural workshop held October 4-October 7 in Ames, Iowa. Friday, October 7 will conclude around noon, CDT to give attendees an opportunity to travel home before the weekend.

Registration is $1,895 for non-accredited NSHS companies, and $1,795 for NSHS accredited companies and STB Graduate Students. Space is limited.
