Monsanto Executive Vice President Human Resources, Steve Mizell, was recently featured in the 100 Diverse Corporate Leaders in STEM Blog Series.
The series features a new business executive Monday-Friday and the exemplary work his or her company is doing to support 21st century STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning and workforce development- particularly for women, minorities and under-represented groups.
“The scope of challenges in STEM is too large and complex for any one stakeholder group to tackle alone. Collaboration will continue to be critical to the success of our combined efforts to address the current and future issues facing STEM education and workforce needs,” Mizell said in his profile. “Collaborative partnerships, between corporations, schools, teachers, parents, government, NGOs and other groups, create added value through the integration and cross-transfer of skills, knowledge and expertise. And this can lead to increased innovation and efficiency, as well as long-term, sustainable solutions to address some of the challenges.”
“There has never been a more important time to tie Diversity and STEM. Key jobs are in STEM careers with 71 percent of job skills. The population of America and the world is diverse,” said Edie Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of STEMconnector®. “Minority youth are already the majority and within two decades the majority of America will be diverse. As we recognize these outstanding 100 Diverse Corporate Leaders in STEM, we salute them as role models for their companies and communities.”
